For all those who are upset with the House hearing, please take it easy. Please do not expect the hearing to discuss the details of each and every GC applicant's case. The objective of the hearing was to bring the folks involved in visa bulletins and GC processing, and make them all publically say and agree that Lofgren-Sensenbrenner bill will not flood the country with new people on the borders but at the same time since the federal agencies did not do their job properly, so it would make sense to recapture the visa numbers, and that's it.
I think that this objective was achieved pretty handsomely without much opposition. So everybody was on the same page, other than Ranking member King, whose job in such meetings is to oppose whatever the committee chair is proposing. Rep. King did not have much to say as Rep. Sensenbrenner has co-sponsored the bill. Noticeably, Rep. Gutierrez supported the bill, which means Hispanic Caucus may not oppose it either, hopefully. So it was all good.

There was a campaign on wrongful denial in AC21 , there was also letter campaign not sure what happened after that ? It was IV action item too... What was the conclusion ? should we all suffer even if it is a training issue, if they act such nice on letters , then why they act as if there is no form and if AC21 is for real aliens from a real alien world.
Bigboy - those were good enough to help us reach Ombudsman's office and the result of those campaigns was that the Ombudsman's office now have a page on their website addressing this issue. Not sure how much it is helping though but as such, if anyone is having case problems, they have to contact the Ombudsman because their office is officially supposed into case problems and am sure - they have their liason at the service centers who may monitor such decisions at an individual case level.
Not quite sure why these things are continuing to happen.

I checked the online status of our 485 application after long time..i totally lost hope on our 485 applications that USCIS ever bothered to work on them..but strange thing is i have noticed a soft LUD on my wifes case..this gives me some hope..:D

Just got my 140 approved...no confirmation from the employer yet but received email from CRIS saying they mailed the approval on April 15. Looks like the published processing times are being adhered to.

Yes, if we do not do anything, then yes, we will only get our GC's as per the calculator- which is 2024 and beyond. If we want it earlier, we need to educate: Get vocal: Vocal about reforming employment based immigration laws. Lobby the government: (which means we need to contribute money to IV to make a war-chest- to pay the lobbyist.), Get noticed: Which means we have to meet our lawmakers.

I-485 Processing would start depending on RD (Receipt Date). But at the time of approval PD should be current and if it is current then the applicant whose RD (Receipt Date) is oldest would get the approval first.

I don't know that they charge 400 for password change:mad:, I recently did it and also Customer care never informed me about this charge...
Check their interest rate and their service fee. I don't have to say anything anymore.
By the way what kind of convenience you received from ICICI bank? Recently i asked for a password change. You know the procedure for changing the password? I don't want to waste a page here. You yourself go and verify.
Apart from that you have to pay close to 400 rupees for every password change. Tell me if i am wrong. I challenge you.

How insane am I? How insane are u? If it was not the USCIS, u wudn't have put ur foot into this country using ur H1B visa. U r in a foreign land and u want things happen like at the snap of ur finger? U think immigration is the only issue US has. U donno nothing about other issues the Govt is facing. If u dont like the administration...just get out. How in the world can a foreigner think about changing USCIS management process? What rights do u have? U cant even vote and u want to change the management process of a Govt body. U think u r a citizen and have all the rights. Kudos to the US Govt for making us feel at home and letting us talk like this. IV can fight upto some extent by the kind of campaigns they are hosting. But its USCIS' prerogative what they want to do. In the first place IV is fighting for Employment Based GCs. The fight which should actually be fought by Employers and above all ppl like u have the audacity to talk about the irregular management in USCIS and even going to the extent of changing it. And they took the shortest and safest way out? U think they wudn't have gotten away by NOT letting u have ur EAD now? U must be from India where there is lot of corruption. How wud u feel if US citizens came to India and propose a change in the Government. US citizens who are immigrants in India - Did u even think about it? U dont even know how to think properly. People immigrate to US because there is more predictability and accountability in all walks of life when compared to other countries. Lately that has been changing for what ever reasons in the US, while other countries are emulating US's past success formula. There is a difference between in thought process of "deserve it" or "will take what ever I am given". Its not the US government that is letting any one talk. The underpinning principles of this country that make people talk. I think people on the forum are asking for some predictability and accountability after years of mishaps. Thank you!! That's true exagerated values. With concurrent filing you can travel in and out of the country, you can work etc. Now we are moaning that the greencard is going to take forever! Wow! Be happy with this situation (file your i-140 & i-485) and stop these pessimistic views!

I know 3 friends of mine who got an email for USCIS rearding the GC approval. They all had priority dates around April-June 2004 EB3 India. These are the lucky ones who got labor cleared in 2-3 months (just prior to BEC/PERM) and had filed 485/140 concurrently.

2009 is VERY OPTIMISTIC. Why would a new administration take up "touchy" issue like immigration in its 1st year (2009)? Least we can expect is 2010 IF NOTHING HAPPENS BY MID NOVEMBER - Congress goes to recess for the year.The window of opportunity is short!
2010 is again an election year. As they say, things happen in DC only in "odd" years. It could be 2009, 2011, 2013... who knows.
If I don't get my GC till 2015... I'm really gonna do something about it!! There's a limit to everything, damn it.:mad:

nice to see good activity on the forum. Please hold on from holding any rally until you hear from IV core. We have some good synergy amongst or members in So Cal, lets plan a meeting in the coming weeks and decide on an action plan. I would encourage you to start thinking about ideas/specific actions we can take. I have a few ideas and would share it on our so cal email distribution list. Who can take the initiative to organize this meeting? Twinbrothers? any one else? Pls P.M me.

not every h1 guy can or will apply for GC. For example many of this big indian IT companies, with lot of H1s in hand, either dont apply GC for employees or they have very strict policies so that most dont qualify.
I know for sure , coz i am a victims of such situation :)
many of those H1s (>50% in cases I have come across) jump to a US company here and start their GC here.

Login to your bank account (This is for BoA)
Go to Bill Pay>>Payees>>Add a Payee
You will see two options
1)Pay a company
2) Pay an Individual
Click the GO button next to Pay an Individual (without entering any information)
In the next page
You will see a small form
Payee- is the name- in whose favor the check will be made
Nickname is for your reference
In Identifying information- you can put your handle
Rest is obvious
Payee creation is one time setup
Once you have created a payee
Go to Bill Pay>>Overview
and here you will see an option to make a payment
